Our Services
What we offer
At the NBPA, every service we offer is driven by a single conviction: Black children deserve nothing less than an excellent education and every protection the law affords them. We are here to make sure they receive both.
Why We Returned And Why It Cannot Wait
The NBPA was dormant for several years, but the dismantling of the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights and the broader rollback of policies that protect Black students made our mission more urgent than ever. We have reopened with renewed purpose. Our team is growing, and our services will expand as our community grows with us. If you need support beyond our current capacity, please reach out, and we will connect you with trusted partners.
Empowerment
Education & Family Advocacy Training
Knowledge is the foundation of advocacy. Our education programming gives Black parents the tools, language, and confidence to show up powerfully for their children: in classrooms, IEP meetings, school board hearings, and beyond.
- Workshops on parental rights and school law
- Live webinars with education experts and attorneys
- Interactive Zoom sessions and community Q&As
- Self-paced learning guides for busy parents
- Strategies for navigating school discipline and special education
Racial Discrimination Investigations (RDI)
Black children are being racially harassed in schools across America, and the federal government has turned its back on them. Since President Trump returned to office, the Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights has not resolved a single racial harassment complaint involving Black students. More than 300 investigators were fired. Twelve regional offices were shut down. Over 1,000 open cases sit ignored.
The federal government has walked away. The NBPA has not. When a Black child is harassed, and the school fails to act, we step in with real support, not just sympathy. Learn what’s at stake
We offer the following to a limted amount of people until we can offer more:
- Case intake and thorough documentation review
- Direct investigation of reported incidents
- Negotiations with school administrators and district officials
- Referral to legal counsel and potential litigation support
- Limited case capacity — contact us to apply
Resources
Family Resources & Community Referrals
We have assembled a growing library of practical resources that Black families can access immediately for free. There are no barriers or waiting lists.
- Downloadable pamphlets on educational rights and advocacy
- Curated reading lists and book recommendations
- Referrals to vetted community organizations and legal partners
- School readiness and college preparation guides
- Resources updated regularly as our network grows
